We will spare no effort to free our fellow men, women and children from the abject and dehumanizing conditions of extreme poverty, to which more than a billion of them are currently subjected. -- Millennium Declaration
About the Stand Up Event
Every year for three days across the globe, events are organized of all types to bring attention to the worldwide crisis that we all face -- poverty.
About the Millennium Development Goals
For the fourth year in a row, millions of people around the world will “Stand Up and Take Action” to demand that world leaders end poverty and achieve the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).
The MDGs offer us a roadmap to end poverty and its root causes. 189 world leaders adopted the MDGs as part of the Millennium Declaration, agreed to at the United Nations Millennium Summit in September 2000.
